NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD is looking for two people who conned a 41-year-old woman into getting out of her car — who authorities say stole her mother’s purse before running off.
Police say the woman was sitting in her double-parked vehicle on Debevoise Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday when police say a man walked up to her and told her that a passing car just hit hers. Police added that the woman got out of her car to check for damage when a woman working with the man grabbed a purse belonging to the victim’s 78-year-old mother and ran off — before both ran off.
The purse had about $25,000 in cash inside. No injuries were reported.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
