With the Blues trailing 3-0 in an elimination game on the road everyone thought that that St Louis would be eliminated, but St Louis ended up scoring the next three goals tying the game at three late in the third period. With the game tied Avalanche star Nathan Mackinnon made an incredible play by racing down the ice and scoring giving Colorado a 4-3 lead with 2:46 to play.

After Colorado scored St Louis was staring elimination in the face again, but with 56 seconds remaining Blues center Robert Thomas scored on the rebound after a Vladimir Tarasenko shot went off the facemask of goalie Darcy Kuemper to tie it at four.

This made the game go into overtime. Three and a half minutes into overtime Blues centerman Tyler Bozak shot one from the point that got past Darcy Kuemper for the game winner keeping the Blues alive in the series.

This was a tough one to swallow for the Avalanche and their fans because of how close they were to advancing to their first Western Conference Finals appearance in 20 years. Colorado will have another chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals on Friday night in St Louis. If St Louis wins this series game five will be the game, we look at as the game that turned the series around.
