With the Mets down 8-2 in the seventh inning Giants fans thought that their team would cruise to an easy win, but they quickly earned what this Mets team is capable of. In the seventh inning Francisco Lindor started the Mets rally by hitting a two-run homer cutting San Francisco’s lead to 8-4.

What ensued after the seventh inning was absolute chaos. Jeff Mcneil led off the eighth inning with a single and the Mets didn’t stop. Dom Smith drove in two with a rbi single making it 8-6, Mets right fielder Starling Marte drove in a run on a hard-hit single to third base, and then Francisco Lindor cleared the bases with a three-run triple making it a six rbi day for the Mets shortstop.

Lindor was then driven home by Alonso on a sacrifice fly completing a seven run eighth for the Mets. In the bottom of the eighth Drew Smith came in to try and preserve the lead for the Mets. Unfortunately for Drew Smith and the Mets that did not happen. With two runners on and the hot Joc Pederson who had already hit two home runs up this spelled trouble.

Drew Smith threw an inside fastball, and Joc Pederson didn’t miss it crushing it for a three-run homer to tie it up at 11. Then in the top of the ninth it was the Mets turn. Dom Smith led off the inning by hitting a leadoff triple, and with one out Brandon Nimmo drove him home with a Sacrifice fly to make it 12-11 New York.

In the bottom of the ninth and Edwin Diaz looking to close out what would be an incredible win for the Mets the Giants came back again. With two outs and nobody on Diaz walked Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, and then first baseman Darin Ruf singled to right, setting up runners on first and second with two outs and Joc Pederson who was having a historic night up to the plate. Pederson continued his historic night by getting a single to centerfield bringing home the tying run. Next to the plate came Brandon Crawford who singled through the left side scoring the winning run for the Giants. This closed out one of the craziest games I’ve ever seen with both teams showing no quit.

Even though this game concluded with a tough Mets loss they sit at 29-16 on the season and have an eight-game lead in the NL East over the Phillies and Braves. The Mets have shown that they are a relentless team that is confident, and that believes in each other even when they’re down and that is impressive. The Mets go for the series win this afternoon as they face off against the Giants this in the rubber match of the series.
