NEW YORK (77 WABC) — Actor Alec Baldwin is not out of the woods yet.
Baldwin may still face charges for accidentally killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the movie set rust in Oct. 2021, according to the Sheriff’s Department investigating the killing. They released a trove of documents and videos from their investigation into the on-set accident in which Hutchins was killed and the director hurt.
The 64-year-old Baldwin was rehearsing a scene on October 21st, 2021, when he pulled his gun from his costume before it fired. The 42-year-old Hutchins was fatally wounded.
The gun fired a live round which had been loaded into what Baldwin thought was an empty or ghost gun. So far, no one has been criminally charged over the accident but Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza suggested on Tuesday morning that charges may still be brought.
