YONKERS, NEW YORK -(77WABC)- A Yonkers police officer was shot on Wednesday afternoon. Police say gunfire broke out shortly after 2 pm near the intersection of Elm and Lincoln Streets. Police say they were conducting a gun investigation with the FBI and attempted to apprehend 3 suspects. The officers tracked down the suspects in a Bodega when the officer was shot in the stomach by one of the suspects. An FBI agent then shot and killed the suspect.
The officer was taken to Jacobi Hospital and is said to be in critical condition. Police say the officer was set to retire in a week.
