A Fatal Fire in Patchogue Thanksgiving Eve One Dead

Patchogue, NY (77WABC)-A woman died as a result of a fire at her apartment located inside of a house at 75 Ryder Avenue in Patchogue Wednesday night.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the fire, but initially say that the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

A passer-by called 911 at 6:13 pm to report the fire. Officers from the fifth Precinct and members of the Patchogue Fire Department responded. Police say the adult female victim was discovered dead after the fire was extinguished.

The name of the fire victim has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.

Investigators say there was no one else inside of the residence at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation has found the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature.
