Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Back in Full Swing This Year

Bands entertain the fans on Central Park West at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.Usa Ny;Imagn.

New York, NY (77WABC)-Pandemic restrictions are lifted for this year’s 95th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. No in person crowds were allowed at last year’s nationally televised event, the 94th annual parade due to the Covid-19 viral pandemic.

The parade route is restored for this year’s iconic event.  The parade marches down Central Park West to 59th Street then heads east to 6th Avenue and then south along 6th Avenue all the way to 34th Street and Herald Square where Macy’s Department Store is located.

Parade fans are encouraged to check macys.com/social/parade/ in advance of their travel to the Parade route.

This year’s parade will feature 15 giant character balloons, 28 floats, 36 novelty and heritage inflatables, more than 800 clowns, 10 marching bands and nine performance groups. Santa Claus will be making an appearance from the North Pole.

There are nine new balloons this year including Ada Twist and Grogu the so-called Baby Yoda from the “The Mandalorian.” Pokémon characters Pikachu and Eevee will also be represented.

Broadway will be represented by the casts of “Six,” “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” and “Wicked.” The Rockettes will perform as will the cast of the upcoming NBC live production of “Annie.”

Macy’s says the parade will be televised on NBC live from 9 am to Noon in all time zones. You can read detailed information from Macy’s on their official page about the parade here.
