NEW YORK (77WABC) – Facebook and apparently all of its owned properties are down across the world.
Users first noticed an issue around 11:30 am Eastern time when Facebook links stopped working and feeds were not updated.
The company said it was aware that “some people are having trouble accessing (the) Facebook app” and it was working on restoring access. Regarding the internal failures, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, tweeted that it feels like a “snow day.”
The company did not say what might be causing the outage. While it is normal for websites and apps to suffer outages, one on a global scale is rare. Users reported being unable to access Facebook in California, New York and all across Europe.
Also on Monday, users of wireless carriers Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T reported issues with their service. It was unclear if the issues were related to the Facebook outage.
We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
