Queens, NY (77WABC)-Fire at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital late Friday afternoon. Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the hospital’s rooftop from a distance away from the hospital as seen in this video is from CitizenApp:
The fire was reported around 5 pm. The FDNY has the fire under control shortly after 6 pm.
Hospital officials evacuated the emergency room while others inside the hospital were told to shelter in place.
Two civilians suffered minor injuries.
The cause of Friday’s fire has not yet been determined.
