MT. HOPE, the Bronx (77WABC) — Off-duty NYPD cops got more than they bargained for on the way home from work, after they shot and killed a gunman in the Bronx early Sunday.
Police say the gunman and his father were involved in a dispute with a group that turned physical, near East 180th Street and Valentine Avenue. The younger man pulled out a gun and fired at the group several times.
The off-duty officers, who’d just finished work for the day and were leaving the 46th precinct, heard the shots and ordered the man to drop his weapon. Police say the man refused, leading to a shootout.
