Four Suffolk County Police Officers Rescue a Semi-Conscious Woman from her Burning Home

Bay Shore, NY (77WABC)-Four police officers from Suffolk County’s Third Precinct are credited with the rescue of a semi-conscious woman from her burning home around 12:45 this morning.

Police say they responded to a 911 call of a fire at 1119 Udall Road. When they arrived, a resident who had escaped the burning home told the officers a woman was trapped inside.

Suffolk County Police Officers Ronald Racioppi, Christopher Grenia, Richard Meyer, and Thomas Komoroski broke down the front door and entered the home.

Heavy smoke had spread throughout the house. One of the officers was driven back by the smoke, went outside, and started looking through windows.  He saw the woman inside a back bedroom, ran back into the house, and yelled to the other officers. Together, they found the semi-conscious woman and carried her to safety.

The woman, a 26-year-old resident of the house, was treated at the scene and released.

The officers were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of smoke inhalation.
