NYC’s “Homecoming” concert at Central Park was canceled during Barry Manilow’s set Saturday night. Lightning strickes approached, threatening the safety of the event.
At around 7:3o PM, annoucements were made to the crowd to “proceed to your vehicles and protected areas outside of the event center” during Manilow crooning “Can’t Smile Without You.”
From this point forward the event was officially “canceled.”
It took a long time for the park to empty out, but eventually some fierce rain convinced the die-hard fans the night was over.
