QUEENS, NY (77WABC) — After a frantic search which went through the overnight hours on Wednesday morning — into the early evening — authorities cancelled an Amber Alert — after a 7-year-old Queens girl was abducted by her father and now faces a host of charges.
The NYPD says the child abducted on Grand Avenue in Queens around 2:15 in the morning on Wednesday.
The child, 7 year-old Jaila Puello, was snatched away by her father, according to authorities, after police say the girl’s father became violent after Jaila’s mother rejected his sexual advances.
The suspect is accused of twisting her wrist, taking out a knife, attempting to put it on her throat, and telling her he would kill her.
The 29-year-old woman fled to the apartment building’s laundry room, where she called police.

The suspect grabbed the couple’s older daughter, and drove off. The girl was dropped off near a relative’s home and the father is still being sought for questioning.
Along with the 7-year-old, the couple also has a 10-month-old baby girl who was left unharmed during the time of the incident.
