Last week, investigators released photos and videos related to the three incidents, hoping the public will recognize the alleged suspect. The NYPD tells 77WABC it was several tips into the crime stoppers hotline, after the video was posted, which help lead to his arrest.
The first incident occurred on June 20th, 2021 at approximately 9:15 in the evening. Police say the suspect they are looking for, followed a 31 year-old male and a 24 year-old female near Liberty Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard. According to police the suspect made Anti-Muslim statements. The man was punched and the woman’s Jijab was pulled. The female was also punched in her arm.
Police say both the victims sustained pain and redness but refused medical attention.
In a second incident about an hour later, also on the evening of June 20th, 2021 , the suspect followed a 64 year-old man and a 56 year-old woman near 105 Inwood Avenue and Liberty Avenue while making Anti-Muslim statements. Police say the suspect allegedly punched the woman multiple times in the face and head before fleeing. The woman was taken to Jamaica Hospital suffering from pain, redness, small lacerations to head and face, and a fractured nose.
Police say the latest incident occurred on July 25th at 8:21 in the evening in front of 94-06 Sutphin Blvd. Police say the suspect followed and displayed a knife and threatened a 38-year-old female while making Anti-Muslim statements. The suspect then fled southbound on Sutphin Blvd towards 94th Avenue.
The suspect has been identified as Naved Durrni of Queens.  He’s facing aggravated harassment charges and is expected to be arraigned in Queens Criminal Court within the next 24 to 48 hours.
