Los Angeles, CA (77WABC)-After being extradited Tuesday from the Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo, NY, disgraced movie mogul turned sex offender Harvey Weinstein will appear in a California Courtroom today on additional sex crime charges. The 69-year-old Weinstein faces 11 felony counts of sexual assault in California. Among the charges against him is alleged forcible rape, against five women in encounters at Beverly Hills hotels dating back to 2004.
Weinstein’s attorney’s had long fought his extradition to Los Angeles County to face additional sex crime allegations.
Authorities say Weinstein is held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles maintained by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department on $5 million bail.
In 2020, Weinstein was convicted in Manhattan of sex crimes including first-degree sexual assault and third-degree rape. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
