NEW YORK—-(77WABC)
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday.
The COVID-19 vaccine site at the Javits Center will be shut down as part of an ongoing downscaling of mass vaccination sites.
Yesterday was the site’s last day of operation.
The governor’s office said the Javits Center had distributed almost 650,000 shots as of Wednesday morning.
Sites also closing on that date include Suffolk County Community College at Brentwood on Long Island and SUNY Ulster upstate.
Today the state-operated mass vaccination site at the @JavitsCenter ends operations—after administering over 600,000 shots!
At its peak, Javits served as the country's largest vax center.
To all the staff, nurses & @NationalGuardNY members—thank you for all that you've done. 💪 pic.twitter.com/kipcsXJHcG
