New York, NY (77WABC)-A suspect is at large after allegedly trying to rape a woman in broad daylight in front of 28 East 33rd St. in Midtown around 7 am Saturday morning.
The 27-year-old woman was walking down the street when she was approached from behind. Police say the man grabbed the woman with both hands around her throat, pushed her against a storefront gate, and pulled his pants down in an attempt to rape the woman. The woman struggled with the man and was able to free herself from his grip. He ran away and she called the police.
The woman was treated at the scene by EMS for an abrasion to her head caused when she was pushed against the gate of the storefront.
The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the following suspect seen in the attached video fleeing from the area of 33rd St where the attempted rape allegedly occurred:
