New York, NY (77WABC)-Vaccinations against Covid19 are credited for driving NYC’s Covid19 rate to an all-time new low of 0.81% per 100,000 persons. Since the start of the year cases of Covid 19 in NYC are down 95%. It’s progress NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio hailed as “stunning, just stunning how much progress has been made.”
De Blasio said since the start of the year the Covid positivity rate is down 91%, the hospitalization rate is down 86% and hospitalizations are down 69%:
The Mayor says it all comes down to New Yorkers deciding to get vaccinated and healthcare workers being there for them. “Now we go farther,” said the Mayor. Covid19 vaccinations will be available to NYC Public Schools students ages 12 and up beginning Friday, June 4th. NYC Schools Chancellor Meisa Ross Porter has tweeted about the locations and times for the shots:

The idea is to get kids 12 and up vaccinated before the end of the school year.
De Blasio said the fact that 8.373, 820 doses of Covid 19 vaccinations have been given to date in NYC’s five boroughs is “astounding just astounding.”
