New York, NY (77WABC)-Democratic NYC Mayoral Candidate Shaun Donovan and the Rev. Kevin McCall were arrested for civil disobedience during a demonstration near the Holland Tunnel this morning marking the one-year anniversary of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Demonstrators want additional police reforms.
Both Donovan and Rev. McCall held an impromptu press conference following their arrests:

Former Police Officer Derek Chauvin remains in solitary confinement awaiting sentencing on June 25th in Floyd’s murder. Prosecutors said Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for over 9 minutes and 26 seconds leading to the man’s death, sparking nationwide protests last year.

A 5 PM protest is planned outside the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn to also mark the one-year anniversary.
NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio attended the National Action Network observance of Floyd’s death in Harlem today.
The family of George Floyd meets privately today with President Joe Biden.
