More than 100 Republicans will sign a letter threatening the creation of a third political political party if the GOP does not break from Trump, according to a report from Reuters.
This comes just after House Republicans voted to remove Representative Liz Cheney from her leadership position after she broke with most Republicans, refuting Trump’s claims of election fraud and voting to impeach him in January.
“The Republican Party is broken. It’s time for a resistance of the ‘rationals’ against the ‘radicals,’” said Miles Taylor, one of the organizers of the letter. Taylor later on in a tweet said “My philosophy on GOP extremists: if you won’t join ‘em, beat ‘em. Come fight with us.”

Taylor was a former Trump-appointee who wrote an anonymous op-ed in the New York Times in defiance of the former president.
The letter, which will be released Thursday, is backed by former government officials who want the Republican Party to return to their principles. If not, their goal is to fight for Republicans such as Cheney and against conspiracies and division. Ironically, Cheney has not been in support of a third party, saying it would give more power to Democrats.
