Staten Island, NY (77WABC) Police say a Newark, NJ man is under arrest in connection with January’s murder of 23-year-old Jahade Chancey of 29 Warren St. in Staten Island.
Chancey was shot multiple times inside of 937 Van Duzer Street in Staten Island on the evening of Saturday, January 16, 2021. He later died at Staten Island University Hospital – North Campus.
Officers from the 120th Precinct took 29-year-old Charles Brooks of 15th Street in Newark in custody Tuesday morning charging him in connection with Chancey’s death.
Police say Brooks is charged with attempted murder, murder, 2 counts each of assault and criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm), 4 counts of burglary, and criminal possession of a firearm.
Details as to the motive for the killing and the relationship between the two men have not been released.
