Covid-19 Vaccine Eligibility Expands In NJ

Trenton, NJ (77WABC)-As of today anyone age 16 and up is eligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccination; however, appointments are necessary in order for you to receive your vaccination.

NJ is the last state in the tri-sate area to open up vaccinations those age 16 and up.

NJ Governor Phil Murphy has extended the state’s  Public Health Emergency due to the viral pandemic until May 15th, 2021. The executive order is renewed every 30-days if necessary. It was first put in place on March 9, 2020.  Under the Emergency Health Powers Act, a declared public health emergency expires after 30 days unless renewed.

“Our vaccination program is expanding vigorously and quickly, but COVID-19 remains a threat to New Jerseyans,” said Governor Murphy. “As we move to extend vaccine eligibility to all residents of our state, the need for all available resources could not be more important.”

Covid-19 appointment information is available on the state’s website https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/vaccine.
