(New York, NY/77WABC)-A Harlem stepfather is charged with the death of his ten-year-old stepson who allegedly suffered long-term abuse. Police say the boy, Ayden Wolfe, had new and old bruises when police discovered his body on the floor of the family’s residence 260 West 131st St., NYCHA’s St. Nicholas Houses, on Sat. at 2:21 pm.
Police were called to the apartment following a report of an assault. It is not clear at this time who made the phone call.
EMS transported the boy to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The NYPD has charged the boy’s stepfather, 34-year-old Ryan Cato, of the same address, with Murder and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The child’s mother was present in the apartment however no charges have been announced against her at this time.
The manner of death will be officially determined by the NYC Medical Examiner’s Office.
Further details have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
