(Queens Village, NY/77WABC)-A 78-year-old woman was discovered dead of an apparent machete attack by her daughter at the woman’s residence 218-44 Hillside Ave. after the victim’s family became concerned because they were unable to reach her. The NYPD says the victim has been identified as Maria Diaz who lived on the second floor of the building.
Police from the 105th Precinct res[ponded to a 911 call Wed. evening, finding the woman lying unconscious and unresponsive inside the bedroom with a laceration to the head. A machete was found at the scene.
EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Police have not said if there was evidence of a break-in or anything being stolen from the residence.
