NEW YORK (77 WABC) – A popular Hudson Yards tourist attraction is closed for the unforeseeable future.
A 21 year old man jumped from the Vessel, a 150-foot spiraling staircase, to his death on Monday morning.
According to the New York Post, Franklin Washington is a person of interested in the fatal stabbing of his mother in Texas.
This is the third suicide at the site in less than a year.
The developer of Hudson Yards, Related Companies, told The New York Times that the closure of the Vessel was temporary, and that the firm was consulting suicide-prevention experts, including psychiatrists, about how to best limit the potential for suicides.
It’s unclear when the structure will reopen.
