An elderly woman was killed and two other people were hurt within a 20-minute span in separate incidents involving pedestrians getting hit by vehicles on Long Island. Police say the woman was struck by an SUV around 10:47 p.m. Friday while attempting to cross Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park. A few minutes earlier, an exchange student from Korea was hit by a car and seriously injured while walking on a street in Huntington Station. About 10 minutes before that, a man attempting to cross Washington Avenue in Brentwood was struck by a car and seriously injured.
