(Linden, NJ) — In the last week, we’ve had an earthquake, a solar eclipse, and now apparently a meteor in the sky over New Jersey. Dozens of people say they saw a fireball in the skies early Wednesday morning. Reports came in from nine New Jersey towns, from Atlantic City to Linden.  Some say they saw a bright ball of light streak across the sky around 3:40 a.m. The American Meteor Society says it’s trying to verify the reports. There are videos and pictures of the fireball posted online. Some in New Jersey say their doorbell cameras caught the bright light.

One man, who identified himself  Darren T, reported his sighting to the American Meteor Society. He says he saw the fire in the sky from his home in Hackettstown in Warren County.  A spokesman from the AMS says they will follow up on all the reports they have received.
