School Closing Info for the Tri-State

The following schools are closed due to the current outbreak of Coronavirus:

NEW YORK CITY

ALL NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED BEGINNING MONDAY UNTIL AT LEAST MONDAY APRIL 20TH. REMOTE LEARNED WILL BEGIN ON MONDAY MARCH 23RD. SCHOOLS WILL REMAIN OPENING FOR KIDS TO ‘GRAB AND GO’ BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ITEMS, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO STAY.

 

LONG ISLAND

ALL NASSAU COUNTY AND SUFFOLK COUNTY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO WEEKS BEGINNING MONDAY MARCH 16.

 

NEW JERSEY

Gov. Murphy is expected to announce statewide closures on Monday

Archdiocese of Newark Catholic Schools – Schools in the Archdiocese will be closed Monday, March 16, 2020, through Friday, March 20, 2020.

Bayonne Public Schools – Closed with an anticipated return date of Monday, March 30, 2020. 

Bergen County schools – Schools will be closed until further notice.

Brick Township and Brick Memorial High School – March 14 SAT and March 21 PSAT canceled.

Butler Public Schools – Closed until at least March 27

Camden County Technical Schools – Pennsauken campus closed until March 30.

College Achieve Greater Asbury Park Charter School – The school will be holding online classes starting March 17

Cranford School District –  Schools will be closed beginning Monday March 16.

East Brunswick Schools – Schools closed through at least the end of the week.

East Orange Public Schools – Closed on Monday, March 16

Edison Township Public Schools –  Closed on Monday, March 16

Elizabeth Public Schools – Early dismissal at 12:15 p.m. on March 16.

Frisch School in Paramus – The school postponed their SAT exams from March 15 to March 29.

Glen Rock Public Schools – The district will be closed Monday, March 16.

Hoboken Public Schools – Due to the State of Emergency all schools will close starting Monday, March 16 for a period of two weeks.

Monroe Township School District – All schools to be closed next week; remote learning to begin March 16.

Manchester Township School District – The schools closed March 16 until further notice.

Lodi Public Schools – Schools close March 16 until further notice.

Old Bridge Township Public Schools – Closed Monday March 16

Plainfield Public Schools – Closed Monday March 16

Ramapo College – The college is closed through March 22.

Red Bank Regional High School District – Closed until further notice.

Toms River Schools – Closed through March 27.

Wall Township Public Schools – Closed through March 27

Westfield Public Schools – Closed starting Monday, March 16 until further notice.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY

ALL WESTCHESTER COUNTY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FOR TWO WEEKS BEGINNING MONDAY MARCH 16.

 

ROCKLAND COUNTY

Catholic Elementary Schools in Archdiocese of New York: Closed Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20.

Clarkstown School District: All schools and the District office closed on Friday, March 13th. The District Task Force will be meeting and will coordinate with the Department of Health and other local and state officials to discuss next steps.

East Ramapo School District: All schools will be closed March 13 as district officials continue to santize all buildings.

CONNECTICUT

ALL CONNECTICUT SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED BEGINNING TUESDAY MARCH 17 WITH HOPES TO RE-OPEN ON MARCH 31ST.

 

 

COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Albertus Magnus College: Spring Break extended for a week, with classes resuming in an online format on March 23 through at least March 29. During the break, residence halls will be closed and students will not be allowed back in until March 22.

Bergen Community College: Classes canceled the week of March 16, will resume March 23.

Columbia University: No in person classes, only virtual classes, through Sunday, March 29.

County College of Morris: County College of Morris (CCM) will be closing its campus in conjunction with its Spring Break, which begins Monday, March 16. Normal campus activities, including office hours and operations, will be suspended during Spring Break, which ends Sunday, March 22. Classes offered off-campus, however, will continue as scheduled. To prioritize the needs of its students and faculty, the CCM library has been closed to the general public since Wednesday, March 11, and will remain so until further notice.

CSCU: Moved all classes to an online-only format from Monday, March 23 through at least Sunday, April 5. Charter Oak State College is already fully online and will continue to offer a full course load. Spring break is the week of March 16.

CUNY:  All CUNY will begin remote learning March 19.

Fairfield University: Migrating all courses online from March 16 through March 29.

Farmingdale State College:Campus will be closed Friday, March 13, 2020 in order for DOH officials to conduct a review as part of the effort to minimize a public health risk. Staff should not report to work Friday, unless otherwise instructed and should continue to monitor the web site for updates. Unless otherwise notified, expect a return to administrative and office operations on Monday, March 16.

Felician University: Classes will be moved online from March 16 to March 28.

Fordham University: All face-to-face classes across its campuses are canceled until further notice. Classes will be taught online until further notice. All on-campus activities are canceled through March 29.

Hofstra University: On-campus classes are canceled through Friday. Effective immediately, access to residence halls will be limited to residents of the specific building. Following Spring Break, classes will be offered online until further notice.

Iona College: All in-person and online arts and science classes have been canceled through March 13. Residence halls closed early for spring break on Tuesday, March 10. Graduate business classes will continue in an online format.

John Jay College: Classes cancelled through Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The college will move to distance-learning format for spring semester, Thursday, March 19.

Kean University: Kean University will begin remote education for all campuses on March 16. Kean plans to resume on-campus instruction on March 30.

Liberty Science Center (Jersey City, NJ): Closed through the end of March.

Long Island University: Moved to online classes for the remainder of the semester. Pell Hall/Life Sciences Building, Kahn Hall closed until March 16 on the LIU Post campus.

Manhattanville College: Suspended in-person instruction on March 12 and moved all classes to remote learning through March 29. Residence and dining halls will remain open. All campus events are canceled, but athletic competitions will still continue without spectators.

Mercy College: Canceled classes and events through Sunday, March 15, and will move to online instruction beginning Monday, March 16. During this period.

Molloy College: Effective March 11, all academic course work transitioned to an alternate delivery modality (e.g. live streaming, online lectures, projects, etc.). Instruction will continue in “alternate delivery modality” through March 28.

Montclair State University: Spring Break for students will be extended through Sunday, March 22. Effective Monday, March 23, the majority of instruction will take place online for the rest of the semester.

Monmouth University: Classes are canceled through March 13. Classes will resume online only on March 23 after Spring Break.

Monroe College: The school is transitioning to online classes starting March 14 and will last at least through March 28. Campuses are located in the Bronx and New Rochelle. Housing students are encouraged to leave campus but can stay in dorms if desired.

Nassau Community College: Face-to-face classes are suspended through the end of the week. Online classes will continue.

New York Institute of Technology: Campuses will be closed. In-person classes will be suspended from through March 13. Classes will resume remotely Monday, March 23.

New York University: All classes have been moved to remote instruction.

Norwalk Community College: The college is closed through Sunday, March 15. The college offices will reopen Monday, March 16. Classes will resume after spring break on Monday, March 23.

Pace University: Pace University will suspend in-person class meetings on all three campuses and move all classes to remote learning through March 29. Spring break for New York City and Pleasantville will continue as scheduled next week, with remote learning resuming after break.

Princeton University: The school is restricting large gatherings and school-sponsored travel amid the outbreak. Students are also encouraged to stay home after spring break. Classes and lectures will be taught online from March 23 through at least April 5.

Rider University: Spring break extended for an additional week through March 27.

Rowan University: The school is lengthening its spring break through March 27.

Rutgers University: Rutgers canceled classes Thursday, March 12, through the end of spring break, Sunday, March 22. Beginning on Monday, March 23 through at least Friday, April 3, all course instruction will be remotely.

Sarah Lawrence College: Classes canceled on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 ahead of spring break. The university will hold classes online/remote platforms for two weeks through April 3 after school returns from spring break on March 23.

Seton Hall University: Seton Hall is suspending all in-person classes through and including Friday, March 13, 2020. All classes will resume online beginning Monday, March 16 through at least Sunday, March 22.

Southern Connecticut State University: Classes will be moved to an online-only format until at least April 5 following spring break.

St. John’s University: Suspending face-to-face instruction at all locations. Move to online instruction on March 12 through March 27. Residents have been ordered to leave dorm buildings.

St. Joseph’s College: All in-person classes and on-campus activities canceled for remainder of the week at the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses. Online classes are operating normally.

St. Thomas Aquinas College: All instruction from Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20 will be conducted online. There will be no in-person class meetings.

Stevens Institute of Technology: Classes will resume through March 13 completely online. All lab courses will be postponed.

Stockton University: Extending spring break through Tuesday, March 24, with all classes resuming online March 25 from April 5.

Stony Brook University: Beginning March 23, 2020 Stony Brook will move to remote instruction. Classes will be held through the end of the semester to ensure academic continuity and all classes and finals will meet remotely at their regularly scheduled times. Most non-classroom events and large gatherings will be cancelled or postponed as of this week through at least March 31.

SUNY: All SUNY schools will begin remote learning March 19.

TCNJ: Beginning the Monday following Spring Break (March 23), and continuing for a period of two weeks, TCNJ will conduct all classes online. While the campus will remain open, students are strongly encouraged to stay home. Students who choose to return will practice social distancing and also take their classes online.

University of Bridgeport: Effective immediately and until at least Friday, March 27, 2020 students may not return to campus following the conclusion of Spring Break. All students who reside in the residence halls must leave. Beginning on Saturday, March 14, 2020, all in-person classes at the Bridgeport and Waterbury campuses will be moved online or provided through other means of instruction. Students enrolled in an internship, externship, clinical experience, or other experiential course are permitted to continue consistent with the policies established at their respective sites.

University of Connecticut: Beginning on Monday, March 23, UConn will move to online course delivery for classes held at the Storrs campus, regional campuses and the School of Law. It is expected that this will remain the case until at least Monday, April 6.

University of New Haven: All in-person classes and exams are canceled through the remainder of the week, leading up to the start of spring break on March 14. In-person classes and in-person exams through March 24 have been canceled.

Western Connecticut State University: The school is canceling all on-campus classes starting March 13 to April 4. Students will take online classes only. The university will be open to business operations only.

Yeshiva University: All classes on its Beren and Wilf campuses are canceled through March 16.
