Sources say that Greg Schiano met with officials from Rutgers University earlier this week regarding a potential return to the school’s football program as their head coach.

NJ.com was the first with details of the meeting that took place in Ohio, with Schiano reportedly having “significant” demands to improve a program that has greatly struggled since joining the Big Ten conference.

According to the NJ.com report, one major improvement he seeks is revamping the team’s indoor training facility, something that has become more of a recruiting tool for major NCAA football programs.

The 53-year old previously held the position for the Scarlett Knights from 2001 to 2011 before moving over to the NFL as head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Schiano most recently served as the defensive coordinator for Ohio State from 2016-2018, and was expected to joins the New England Patriots as their defensive coordinator this season.  He resigned from that position prior to the season starting.

During his time at Rutgers, the Scarlett Knights won 68 games and appeared in six bowl games.
