The Chicago Cubs agreed on a deal with free agent closer Craig Kimbrel on Wednesday night. The deal is reportedly worth $43M over three years.
Kimbrel, the closer for the World Series champion Boston Red Sox last year, had 332 saves from 2011 to 2018, by far the most in the majors, while his 1.97 ERA since 2011 was second among closers to Zack Brittons 1.79. His average of 14.6 strikeouts per nine innings was second to Aroldis Chapmans average of 15.07 per nine.
