(New York, New York) – The New York Mets will not include a Jewish Heritage Night in their 2026 promotional schedule, according to the team’s official calendar, prompting reactions from some fans and advocacy groups.
The Mets’ upcoming season features a wide range of cultural and identity-themed events, including celebrations recognizing Italian, Puerto Rican, Japanese, Korean, Irish, Dominican, and Mexican communities, as well as events focused on Black heritage and Pride Month.
Jewish Heritage Night, which had appeared on the team’s schedule in previous years, is not listed among the 2026 offerings. Public materials suggest the team has not hosted a Jewish-themed promotional night since 2023.
Some critics have raised concerns about the absence, arguing the event had been an important recognition for Jewish fans, particularly in the New York area, which has a large Jewish population. Others note that team promotional calendars can change year to year and may reflect shifting priorities or scheduling decisions.
