(Washington, DC) – Sen. John Fetterman is calling out members of his own party, arguing that Democrats are contradicting themselves when it comes to Iran and national security.

In pointed remarks, Fetterman said that “every Democrat running for president said Iran can’t be allowed to have nuclear weapons,” highlighting what he sees as a long-standing bipartisan position in Washington. He criticized fellow Democrats for now attacking President Donald Trump over actions taken against Iran, suggesting the backlash is politically motivated.

Fetterman’s comments come amid renewed tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions and U.S. foreign policy in the region. While Democrats have historically opposed Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, divisions have emerged over how aggressively the U.S. should respond.

The Pennsylvania senator, who has at times broken with party leadership on foreign policy and national security issues, framed the criticism of Trump as inconsistent with previous Democratic rhetoric.

His remarks are likely to fuel ongoing debate within the Democratic Party over its approach to Iran, particularly as geopolitical tensions continue to rise and questions mount over the best path forward to prevent nuclear escalation.
