(New York, NY) – After being caught by cops as he was trying to flee the country, an 18-year-old is admitting to a vicious stabbing and stalking attack. The incident happened on Monday at a bus stop in East Elmhurst, Queens around 6:30 a.m. Luis Emmanuel Valencia Ponce was seen on camera lurking behind Lisette Ramales, 29, who was waiting to cross the street. Ponce stabbed the woman multiple times in the surprise attack and did not even say a word. She suffered several broken ribs and multiple stab wounds.
As of Thursday, Ramales was still in the hospital. She says one of the strangest parts of the attack was the fact that he said nothing and did not take any of her belongings – it seems the attacker just attacked for the sake of inflicting violence. Cops ended up recovering the knife at the scene. The New York Post reports the suspect lives a block away from the attack site in a basement apartment with his father. After the stabbing, Ponce tried to hop on a flight to Peru without a boarding pass, leading to his arrest by Port Authority. He was detained and hospitalized for observation as an emotionally disturbed person.
