(New York, NY) — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is telling news reporters that he and his wife are moving into Gracie Mansion. At a Monday (January 12th) afternoon news conference with the official mayoral residence as a backdrop, Mamdani announced that he plans to open Gracie up more frequently to regular New Yorkers.
The new Mayor also revealed that he hasn’t encountered any ghosts yet in the 1799 mansion and that he hopes to install a few bidets. As for the menu, New York’s first Muslim mayor simply said, “no pork.” Mamdani also said he’s getting allergy shots in preparation for welcoming a furry family member, a cat.
Whoever moves into NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s rent-stabilized apartment in Queens will be shelling out an extra $800 — or 35% — more per month than what the socialist did. The Astoria apartment — which has quietly attracted interest from potential tenants for the past few weeks — is now commanding $3,100 per month while still remaining rent stabilized. Mamdani caught a break during the seven years he’s rented the one-bedroom Astoria pad, paying about $2,300 because his landlord charged him a much lower rate than what was allowed by law.
