(Bronx, NY) – It was around 7:00 AM on New Year’s Day when firefighters responded to car fire in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx. After the flames were extinguished, EMS workers found a 55-year-old man inside the vehicle. He’d been shot in the head, and was declared dead at the scene.
This happened at the intersection of Morris Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
The apparent murder victim was found in a blue Toyota SUV that had Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) plates. But, it’s not clear if the man was working as a rideshare driver, and reports have not identified the victim.
Cops told WPIX 11 that the vehicle was located in the middle of the road, and had a flat tire. Video footage from the scene confirms that. And the hood was pressed up against a white car that was nearby.
