(New York, NY) – The push to save the ostriches in Canada has experienced a setback — but it’s not over. This week, 77 WABC owner-operator John Catsimatidis and Dr. Mehmet Oz — the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services — joined ostrich farmer Katie Pasitney of Universal Ostrich Farm.
Together, they’re continuing to rally in defense of the ostriches. Despite the recent order from a court.
As discussed on this site and the 77 WABC airwaves, ostriches are ancient birds that may contain hidden secrets of biological history — their DNA may lead to cures or treatments. That’s especially significant given the potential for avian influenza to cross over and infect human populations. We asked: will Canadian authorities really kill these defenseless animals? For now — the answer and trend is discouraging — but the fight continues.
