(Tel Aviv, Israel) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the United Kingdom is prepared to recognize a Palestinian state, if Israel fails to take immediate action to end the war in the Gaza. That announcement isn’t going over so well with Israeli lawmakers, who say Hamas should not be rewarded for starting the conflict with Israel by murdering innocent Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023 . French President Emanuel Macron has already announced Paris’s recognition of a Palestinian state. And now Canada’s Prime Minister, Mark Carney says his nation is ready to recognize a Palestinian nation.
Meanwhile, a growing number of Senate Democrats are voting against sending military aid to Israel. The Senate on Wednesday rejected two measures that would have blocked a 670-million-dollar arms package to Israel. Over half of the Senate Democrats voted in favor of the resolutions sponsored by Independent Senator Bernie Sanders. That’s up from the 15 Democrats who voted against military aid to Israel back in April. Democrat Patty Murray of Washington state said her vote to block aid to Israel was to send a message that “it is time to say enough to the suffering of innocent young children and families” in Gaza.
