(Birmingham, England) — Fans of Ozzy Osbourne are hoping to keep his name alive. The heavy metal icon passed away this week at the age of 76. There’s a petition posted on change.org that’s seeking to rename Birmingham International Airport after the “Prince of Darkness.” The petition is being run by podcast host and self-described “metal head,” Dan Hudson. So far, there’s been no comment from officials if the name change is being considered.
Meantime, many acts have been posting tributes to the late singer. Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth performed an emotional rendition of Ozzy’s “Mama, I’m Coming Home during their show in Hartford, Connecticut. In addition, Elton John called Ozzy, “a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods.”
