Crooked Cops?

(New York, NY) — New York City officials are rebuffing a lawsuit filed against Mayor Eric Adams and top NYPD brass by former interim commissioner Tom Donlon that alleges the department was run like a criminal enterprise.

The suit claims the NYPD, with Adams looking the other way, engaged in fabricated promotions, systemic fraud, retaliatory policing and the obstruction of internal investigations by high-ranking officials. Donlon, who headed the NYPD for less than two months after Eddie Caban resigned over corruption allegations, also says police officials used his official stamp without his consent to carry out their corrupt scheme. Donlon argues he lost pay as others got undeserved raises.

Adams is shrugging it off, saying the claims are baseless and that Donlon is disgruntled.  Former Deputy Commissioner Tarik Sheppard says Donlon wasn’t right for the job.
