(Philadelphia, PA) — An eight day long smelly strike involving thousands of Philadelphia sanitation workers appears to be over. Union leaders say they have a new deal with the city. The city and workers have reportedly agreed to a nine percent raise. Trashcans all across Philadelphia are overflowing with garbage that has not been picked up in some place in more than eight days.

There have been 60 sites designated as drop-off centers for residential trash, but most did not use them.  There were sympathy strikes during the eight days, including a walk out by workers from city libraries.
