New Wildfire in NJ

syndication-hanover-evening-sun-4

(Hackettstown, NJ) — Another wildfire is burning in New Jersey, this time in the western part of the state.

The fire, which broke out Friday (May 2, 2025) afternoon in a heavily wooded area not far from the M&M factory in Warren County, closed Route 46 in both directions between Liberty Township and Hackettstown in Warren County. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says it’s consumed one-hundred acres and is threatening 25 structures. People are urged to avoid the area.

Crews are fighting the fire with water dumps and containment lines. Some of them just recently battled that massive wildfire in South Jersey. They’re hoping rain in the forecast for the weekend will help their efforts.
