Easter Ceasefire Breaks Down

(Moscow, Russia) – The two warring countries of Russia and Ukraine are putting the blame on the other side when it comes to the continuation of shelling over the weekend. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a 30-hour ceasefire in honor of the Easter Holiday. Putin first ordered troops to the region back in February 2022 and peace talks persist in an effort to bring the three year old conflict to a close. Putin announced the plans for a temporary ceasefire beginning Saturday lasting through midnight on Sunday. However, Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky said that Russia was still carrying out attacks.

In response, Russia’s defense minister argued Ukraine was the one breaking the ceasefire deal, ordering drone attacks. Meanwhile both sides say fighting on the front line has been dwindling.
