(Poughkeepsie, NY) — New York Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is reportedly thinking about a run for governor.
After receiving encouragement from Republican donors and allies of President Trump, Stefanik is considering a bid , since they think she may be formidable and popular enough to win in the typically blue state.
Trump said on Truth Social Wednesday (April 14, 2025), “Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is great!!!” This also comes after Trump decided to withdraw her nomination for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying Republicans need every House seat they can get. Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul is up for reelection next year.
