(Wharton, NJ) — Drivers will continue to deal with disruptions on Interstate 80 in Morris County. The New Jersey DOT is announcing the eastbound side of Interstate 80 in Wharton will remain shut down for two more months to allow crews to make more emergency repairs to a sinkhole.
They are working on stabilizing an area underneath the highway in Wharton. This is near the same area where a sinkhole formed back in December from the collapse of an old mineshaft.
There might be some hope: the DOT is working to shift one lane of eastbound traffic into the westbound lanes to help reduce the number of vehicles making detours through local communities.
