(Houston, TX) — NASA says the two astronauts stranded on the International Space Station for the better part of nine months are finally preparing to come back home. The space agency says Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will return to Earth on Saturday March 16th.
The Boeing Starliner spacecraft they launched in, for what was supposed to be a eight-day mission was deemed unsafe to return. There were problems with helium leaks in the propulsion system and some of the thrusters were not working correctly.
The astronauts will ride home in a SpaceX rocket that is bringing a new crew of astronauts to the International Space Station.
