(Washington, DC) — President Trump is warning Hamas that it must release hostages held in Gaza or, in his words, “it is over for you.” It comes as the White House confirmed the U.S. has been holding direct talks with Hamas.
In a post on “Truth Social”, Trump also addressed the people of Gaza, saying “a beautiful future awaits,” but if you hold hostages, “you are dead.” A six-week Gaza ceasefire between Israel and Hamas expired Saturday. There have so far been no discussions on a second phase of the deal, which calls for the release of remaining hostages and for Israeli troops to pull out of the war-torn Gaza Strip.
Hamas responded to Trump and said they refuse to release more hostages without reaching a deal for a permanent ceasefire.
