Jim McGreevey’s comeback is underway

syndication-the-record-232

(Jersey City, NJ) —  Governor Phil Murphy has officially endorsed former Governor Jim McGreevey in his comeback bid to be mayor of Jersey City. McGreevey famously resigned as New Jersey’s governor in 2004 after announcing he was gay and had an affair.

Governor Murphy says he believes McGreevey will win an open race for mayor in New Jersey’s second largest city come November.  McGreevey will first have to face off against a number of Democrats who want to take over at City Hall. Murphy says McGreevey is the best person to run the city, because he understands how government operates. The current mayor, Steven Fulop is stepping down to make a run for Governor.

McGreevey has to first outlast five other Democrats, including, the former President of the Jersey City Board of Education, Mussab Ali,  Flash Gordon, father of former New York Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas. Along with Hudson County commissioner, Bill O’Dea. City Councilman James Solomon, and Joyce Watterman, the one time President of the Jersey City Council.
