(San Antonio, TX) — Seven police officers were shot in San Antonio, Texas Wednesday night as they responded to a distress call made from inside a home. Neighbors say they heard gunfire around 9 p.m. and saw a large group of armed cops surrounding a house, where a man had barricaded himself inside. All of the officers hit by bullets were rushed to the hospital. They are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The man in distress was found dead inside the house. It’s not clear yet if he killed himself, or took a bullet from one of the officers outside.
Police say four of the officers shot were hit as they arrived at the home after the first 911 call came in. During the hours long stand off with the gunman, three others were also hit by bullets.
Police have not released the identity of the gunman. Neighbors describe him as a man in his 40s, who had been reportedly arrested for assault and DWI. He was out out on bail.
