(New York, NY) — Motorists using the Queensboro Bridge are being charged the new congestion fee, despite not entering the tolling zone, due to an apparent glitch. Manhattan-bound drivers who use the 59th Street Bridge’s lower level are being charged the nine-dollars when they exit at East 60th Street, where the congestion zone begins, but then they’re turning onto 1st Avenue and heading away from the zone.
New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams is working with the MTA to hopefully fix the mishap. Meanwhile, drivers on the upper level avoid the toll when they exit at East 62nd Street.
