(New York, NY) – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani did not make his scheduled morning appearance in federal court. Giuliani was due back in the Manhattan courtroom for a decision in his defamation case regarding possession of his Florida condo and three World Series rings. Giuliani was found liable by a jury in 2023 for defaming two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. That judgement put Giuliani on the hook for $148 million. Giuliani was found in contempt of court twice last week in relation to this defamation. The first was due to a failure to overturn information regarding Giuliani’s assets which in turn banned him from introducing other evidence. The second instance where he was found in contempt was by a different judge in Washington DC who found that Giuliani continued slandering the workers.
Thursday’s proceedings were adjourned until the afternoon, however according to social media postings – Giuliani appears to be in Florida at Mar-a-Lago – thousands of miles away from the courthouse. Meanwhile, Giuliani has already handed over a car, luxury watches and other assets to the court.
